Ian Mitchell - PGA Teaching Professional
I started playing golf when I was 10 years old and went on to win junior and men's Club Championships at Donnington Valley Golf Club. My first job was at Basingstoke GC under the guidance of Ian Hayes, moving on to Hartley Wintney GC where I qualified in 1995.
I have 20 years experience in coaching and have coached beginners up to European Tour Professional level. I still play in the BB&O Pro-Ams with 3 wins and regular top 10 finishes and held the course record at Reading Golf Club at 7 under par, gross 63 for over 7 years! I have completed up-to-date child protection training and I am CRB checked, holding the requisite insurance to teach as a PGA Professional.
John Mitchell - Club Maker
I have played golf for over 40 years and been repairing clubs for over 15 years. I qualified to repair clubs at Diamond Golf. My clients range from beginners to professionals. I have been a golf professional working in the West Berkshire and south Oxfordshire area for the last 30 years.
My apprenticeship as an assistant started at Newbury and Crookham in 1984, from there I moved to Hadden Hill and Newbury Racecourse. A seven-year term at Deanwood Park Followed until 2008.
Until recently I have been teaching and club fitting for American Golf at Thatcham and Basingstoke.
With 30 years of experience teaching I have developed an easy-going style which friendly and knowledgeable. A lot has changed in golf over the last 30 years and keeping abreast of the latest developments in technique and equipment is now all part and parcel of the job.
